Round 21 - Aintree, Saturday 1st September
The forecast for the day with our friends at the BBC was showing as a dry clear day, having had this event previously cancelled due to torrential rain in 2016 this was a good start.
There were two full time Championship |
members, Bill Campion with Dave Barrowclough plus Mark and Nathan Warburton who were both out for their very first sprint ever! In the family Griffith 4.3. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them again in 2019 with an entry into the full Championship.
With first practice out of the way the results at this point were to stand throughout day with Barrowclough 1st, Campion 2nd, Warburton Mark Senior 3rd and Warburton Nathan Junior 4th the outcome.
Liverpool Motor Club runs a slick event with two practices and the first timed run out of the way before lunch and a further four timed runs after lunch with only 3 towards our results, but plenty of time on the track if wanted.
Dave and Bill having been here before and knowing the circuit a small ~3% reduction in their times from P1 to the final result of the day was seen, but clearly the Warburton duo were having fun showing a greater than 15% reduction in their times over the day as
they got used to the car on the circuit.
So in summary, good weather, good company, a track with lots of run off if it goes wrong, 6 or 7 timed runs on the track and in the bar by 4pm. |
